Abu Simbel
Abu Simbel is situated in southern Egypt and well known
for its two massive rock temples. Pharaoh Ramesses II had the temples sculpted out of a mountainside during the 13th century BC. The matching temples were built to memorialize Ramesses II and his wife Nefertari. Though the Pharaohs were considered gods, Ramesses II did not foresee the building of the Aswan High Dam reservoir thousands of years later in the 20th century. To avoid the ruin of the magnificent temples, part of Unesco’s World Heritage Site known as the ‘Nubian Monuments’ were relocated beginning in 1964 to a manmade hill high above Lake Nasser, the mammoth reservoir that would be formed by the damming of the Nile River.
In the time of Moses, Egypt was the superpower of the world. History has proven superpowers eventually fall, and once they do they never rise again. The Incan, Mayan, Persian, Babylonian, Egyptian, Mongolian, and Roman civilizations all rose to great heights of power, then crumbled. More modern examples include the Spanish Empire, the British Empire, Nazism, and the USSR. The next to fall will be America. (She is in this process at this very time.) Revivals, like superpowers, are great movements and once they die never come back. Of all the great cultures or superpowers in history, only one nation has fallen and then risen again: Israel. But even so, Israel has not reclaimed its full power, nor geographical expanse. In the same way, the Bride was promised a revival through the restoration of the fullness of the Word of God. (She is in the process at this very time.)
“That poor Smyrnaean Age was dying. When it died, it never came back. No age ever comes back. No revival ever comes back. It can’t have the life of God in it by natural generation. It takes a regeneration from above. This last age started with the fires of a Pentecostal revival and they organized it right back. Instead of taking the Word they took their own ideas and did just what every age has done–substituted the manual for the Word.”
